Being a Filipino

last saturday we commemorated the 21st death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino. no, im not going to get you started about the issues of Kris Aquino because Ninoy Aquino is more than the father of Kris, he is responsible for bringing back this thing called FREEDOM. i cannot say into full account want happened on the 21st of August 1983 because i was not there. im kind of jealous for who were there and experienced first hand the heroics of a martyr. i have always been jealous of those who lived and died in the Marcos regime because they know in their heart what nationalism and dying for our country means. although most of us do lip service when it comes to nationalism, i dont think we really mean it, sa kapwa nga natin pilipino hindi natin matanggap kapag di natin ka-level. i have always yearned for something to rally about, something deep not just oil price hike and stuff like that. something deeply rooted. i am jealous of those who saw and experienced the minds of tanada, aquino, tolentino, marcos and those who have shown a great deal of intelligence, when the senate was a venue for substantiated conversations and not grandstanding and mudslinging. in the probe documentary, they said that youth today are looking for someone to look up to, someone they can build their values from, and someone life-altering, that can inspire and move us. i cant agree more, i cannot look at the president for inspiration because she simply isn't one, i cant look at senators because there is no way they are inspirational, ok maybe there are few but mind you they are exotic and someday can be completely wiped out of this planet. i'm really looking for somebody who can change the course of life for the filipinos, not face value but soul value. who can do that? i dont know, but we need him and we need him fast!!!!
